Some of the areas we call home are high risk fire danger areas.

We’re serious about preparing for bushfires and have plans ready to go on high risk and total fire ban days to help keep the water supply system working.

However, in the event of a bushfire, we can’t guarantee your water pressure or your water supply.

This could be due to:

  • electrical failure affecting the pumps that allow us to deliver water

  • fire trucks drawing water from the system

  • a burst water main

  • vital infrastructure being damaged by fire.

What you can do

Plan and prepare

Everyone in Victoria who lives near forest, bush, grassland or the coast needs to prepare their property for bushfire.

Bushfires can be unpredictable and stressful. Understanding what to expect and having a plan ready can help you cope.

Visit the CFA website for up to date information on understanding your level of risk, building your bushfire plan, and preparing your property.

Independent water supplies

As part of your fire plan, it's essential to be prepared with a water supply independent to mains water, such as groundwater bores.
